Weekend in Dutchieland!

Goedendag!
Just back from Dutchieland! damn that was a busy weekend...
Friday night I flew to amsterdam, from there with public transport to Schoorl to pick up the car and straight to Zoetermeer to practise for the Dutch champs! after training some partying and some sleeping. Next morning Dutch champs started quite early. I made it till 3rd place in prelims, unfortunately I couldnt compete in the finals because of other important things!
So after the prelims I went to Den Helder with public transport, for my moms birthday party! Witch was great fun! (Except for answering the same question for about 38 times;-) Sunday I had some time to chill out with my parents and in the afternoon back to Amsterdam to catch my flight to Basel. Witch is quite a funny story...I was a little bit late at the airport, so I quickly checked the departing flights display and saw 17:50 to Basel gate G2…so I ran to gate G2…coming there I saw a Swiss air craft…and I was quite sure I was flying easyjet…so I asked one of the nice airport-girls about that…and she told me there were 2 flights to Basel at exactly the same time! Ofcourse the easyjet one boards at a gate on the other end of the airport so I had to run for about 10 minutes (!) but I just made it in time!! In the end it took me 4 hours to get from my parents place to my room in Basel, not bad he!
The weekend in Netherlands was fun, good to see everyone again, but it feels great to be back in Basel!
Ciao for now!

tja...crazy swissies!

Hi there!
just a short message from Basel, I really have to share this crazy story with you!
After my shock about the Vignette you need on your bike, yesterday this happened; I was biking home from a night in the city when I ran into a police check-point, so I thought everything was ok (traffic lights were off, light on my bike were functioning) but they stopped me.. Asked for my ID, I showed my Dutch ID, was no problem, but the police guy asked whether I live in Switzerland or not, so honest as I am I said yes, then he asked for my Auslanderausweiss, which I ofcourse left at home...so they made some problems about that but in the end that was ok. But now the funny part comes; I had to do a alcohol test!! the Swiss police checks bikers for alcohol use! I actually had to laugh a little about this (what they didn’t like I guess) . But I did the test and fortunately I didn’t drink that much, so my promilage was 0.18 (just under the 2.0 limit!) In the end everything was ok, but they wasted about 15 minutes of my valuable time! I really think it’s ridiculous to check bikers on alcohol, what do they want me to do? Walk home? Before I didn’t realize Switzerland is so cyclist
Unfriendly…or maybe its just because I am an Auslander…
BUT for the rest everything is tiptop here! This weekend we will make a trip to Lugano (a city in the south of Swissieland)
Ciaoo!
